Bo Bartlett

Bo Bartlett focuses on large-scale figurative painting in the tradition of twentieth-century American realism.  His unique narrative vision is a combination of many sources including his upbringing, his spirituality, his surrounding landscapes, and his friends and family.  Bartlett’s work exhibits images of life, death and passage, attempting to evoke our everyday existence while elevating them to the heroic.  Typically, his paintings present an iconic American subject underlined with subtle open-ended questions.  Thus, Bartlett’s work can be appreciated based not only on the directness of the narrative images, but also based on its ability to receive complex interpretation.
