This new body of work examines the relationship between nature and the human made. Utilizing plant life, fabric, thread, paper and other materials, Jil Weinstock combines the artificial with the natural world, exploring notions of control and fragility during this time of unrest, uncertainty and unprecedented times.
The nature we experience in city living is so intensely cultivated, it feels as if we are living in an image of nature instead of interacting with nature itself. Interested in this new space Weinstock finds herself caught between sheltering in a city and a rural area and neither feels right at the moment as both feel so isolating. This new work is capturing the energy and feeling of this new reality.
