Winston Wächter Fine Art, New York is pleased to present Golden Hour, a recent collection of paintings by Hiro Yokose. This body of work displays the artist’s expertise in creating serene terrains that dance along the line of minimalist abstraction and traditional landscape. Each of Yokose’s paintings consist of multiple layers of oil paint that are finished with a polished varnish. The artist’s signature low horizon line in these compositions illuminates the canvas with life. Each work is painted with a delicate softness with scenery that looks gently touched by fog. The resulting effect provokes the feeling of an otherworldly land brushed with a touch of nostalgia, leaving the viewer to question if they have visited the landscape before or only in a dream.

Hiro Yokose was born in Nagasaki, Japan in 1951 and moved to Manhattan as a young man, where he lived and worked for the majority of his career, until returning to Japan. His works can be found in numerous collections including Microsoft, Boeing, Citibank, and San José Museum of Art.
