Winston Wächter Fine Art is pleased to present a new body of work by Tanya Minhas, Look At The World Through My Eyes. In addition to the online exhibition, the works will be on view at Topping Rose House on Thursday, July 18th, for an in-person reception and artist talk.
This corps of paintings takes its inspiration from landscapes that subtly enter the artist’s sensory realm from the periphery and ultimately become dreamscapes. Fascinated by the various bodies of water that kiss the land and embrace the sky in a multitude of settings during her travels, Minhas tends to first absorb these visual experiences and eventually reprocess them physically.
In the painting “Look At The World Through My Eyes”, the same three elements -sky, sea and landscape- invoke Minhas’ dreams. She creates a mosaic-esque surface, using tile-like reflective and matte details that softly swirl in sync with one another, to capture their etherealness onto a physical canvas.
With this technique, Minhas crafts environments that represent a state of in-between: simultaneously internal and external, visible and invisible, tangible and elusive.
Tanya Minhas is a New York based visual artist. Raised in Karachi, Pakistan, the artist moved to the United States to attend Princeton University. She received her graduate degree from Columbia University, and painted portraits in oil at The Arts Students League.
